Yes we've all heard the argument. But that's not how people operate. I agree the entire society should pay for education, because we live here and want society to work. HOWEVER, those USING the services actively should at the very least not be paying far LESS than those who don't. If you want people to support social programs, they need to feel a chance to directly benefit from them...or at least not feel like their eyeballs are getting fucked out.

They do pay more later if they get a good-paying job.
