But yes calling your kid a weird first name of any kind will play against him socially. Employers don't want:

Underclass white names

Ghetto names

Hard to pronounce names

Foreign names from other cultures (European, African or Asian, they don't care.)

Made up/hippy names.

Anything weird.

People with foreign qualifications they aren't familiar with.

So basically if your first name is something foreign that isn't well naturalized to the area, find a way to Anglicise it.

Only your first name though. Ming Li Wen and Raggeh Shah will find it easier to get interviews as Amanda Wen and Robert Shah. It's the first name that seems to matter.
