Half of you would get agitated if some guy stood up in your church and declared that the earth isn't 6,000 years old and evolution is real. But sure, go off.

One is about concrete human rights, the other is a matter of theology... not at all comparable. But sure, nice try.

A better comparison would be someone standing up in a mosque and saying Jewish people had a right to live.

This is bad comedy.

He says, in the context of a discussion about a video of how people are reacting to human rights views in a church, and without any apparent hint of self-awareness. They are both about human rights, you nimrod. They also both involve "group consensus". Saidit is really something else.

Just admit you agree with the crowd and that's why you're here, not because you're a pure heart that wants to defend strangers or just argue semantics with some random, lol.

earth isn't 6,000 years old

You're trying to compare tangible genocide to an arbitrary and arguably inconsequential factoid. They are not the same thing.

The other poster said:

They figured it out just fine.

Whoops, forgot I edited my comment. Originally I used Black Lives Matter as an example of what would agitate you.

But no, both are at least in part matters of theology. If you're deep in the Jewish faith and you believe you're the chosen people, the implication that what Israel is doing is wrong will offend you on a religious level.

I totally understand what you're saying and I'm still saying that a current event regarding bodily harm toward some is of far greater significance than a primarily harmless piece of trivia.

Addressing your phantom BLM arguement goal-post moving, that's fine, I'll play into your little trap - first however we need to separate the two: BLM the communist revolutionary organization (bad) - and BLM the idea that black lives matter as much as anyone else's (true).

If a BLM protestor said that at a KKK meeting, you'd see the supremacist mindset kick in and they would all boo and hiss and probably do much worse. If a Jew stood up in a Mosque and said Jews deserve to live, you'd see the same thing.

Kind of like when someone mentions Palestinian lives in this video/place.

Almost as if... they're shitty people using shitty excuses to be shitty to others?

You're probably mistaking my disgust at the people - for hatred of their religion.

Edit: "disgust at the people (in the video) - for hatred of the religion/people as a whole, including those not featured in the video" Edited to clarify, since some people really like wasting time on semantics.

Oh no, this is Saidit, I already assumed you didn't like Jews.

Well then you assumed incorrectly. Have a nice day.

Edit: I won't waste my time elaborating on how your sweeping generalization of this site reveals more about your motivations than I think you know.

It's not "sweeping generalizations" when you've got a site populated by literal Nazis, holocaust deniers, etc. You yourself post tons of fake news, so you're fitting into a different mold yourself.

It's not "sweeping generalizations" when you've got a site populated by literal Nazis, holocaust deniers, etc.

I see plenty of other opinions as well, perhaps you're only seeing what you're looking for? I just can't tell if you get paid for it - or it's just a personal mission.

You yourself post tons of fake news

I post what I find interesting, not only what I agree with and not solely because I think it's true. For example I posted an article authored by Debbie Wasserman Schutlz, everyone probably thought I was posting it in support of her - when in fact I was posting it so people can see what she is up to.

If you think something's fake news, go ahead and comment in it but I'm not wasting my time on stuff from forever ago lol.

I could of course just DELETE it all whenever anyone has a problem with something or points out falsities in the story - but I prefer to leave it up, because the lies aren't mine, I didn't write the articles or make the videos, direct your "fake news" hysteria at them, lol. (Don't shoot the messenger - and all that). So yeah, I'd say I do fit into a different category than what you're used to dealing with.

If you're deep in the Jewish faith and you believe you're the chosen people, the implication that what Israel is doing is wrong will offend you on a religious level.

People who are even deeper in the Jewish faith understand that the Jews are condemned to exile until the coming of the Messiah. The establishment of an autonomous Jewish government (i.e. Israel) is expressly forbidden in the Torah.

Wat?

Is this supposed to be some type of "some of you are bad too.." pseudo-argument?

You seem offended, so it's probably safe to assume you're jewish.

Do you support Palestinian human rights?

[–]lestratege 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Funny that you equate Palestinian human rights with a nonsensical theory that is not even supported by most churches, including the main ones, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican.

It is now, in 2020 when it's so thoroughly proven that any church knows they will look foolish if they seriously try to argue for a young earth, or that evolution isn't real. But the actual scripture hasn't changed, and until recent history you could find plenty of religious orgs that were very seriously trying to support the creationism theory, and then when that was losing ground it was dressed up as Intelligent Design so they could try to get it taught in schools.

Hell, when I was in the military I met a guy whose schoolteacher in Florida told him that dinosaur fossils were put there by god to test our faith. He'd be about 35 now so he would have learned this in the late 90s or early 2000s. Sure, now in 2020 it's not as widely taught as it once was. But there are absolutely still Christians that are taught it, and you can find users on this site, such as u/ christnmusicreleases, that actively believe in it.
