One of the ways Reddit stifles your voice is comment time limitations. If a bunch of shills can jump on and attack you, and you can only reply to one, you can't even get the proper argument across.

that is exactly what you are doing in this post here. you claim to be about the new platform, free speech, pyramid of debate, etc, but in the same sentence you want to "hold fast to extremism." if the pyramid of debate is on your side, then you don't need to mobilize people to "defend against extremism" you just need to have good arguments, but that's not exactly what you argue for. Hence, you aren't really on the side of the philosophy of saidit which is the pyramid of debate. There is your concern trolling.

I mean try it, go to reddit and post a controversial opinion. You will find that people who disagree with you, will attack you. They will tell you to go to a mental hospital, that you're an idiot, retarded, etc. There are plenty of examples. I don't need to argue that calling someone a mental patient is attacking someone. that is pretty clear...

They are not limited. You just cannot spam low-effort replies. Hence my mocking the absurdity of your position.

They are limited to around 6-15 minutes in my experience, even with old accounts with positive karma. For someone who can type, think, and formulate arguments quite quickly, 2-4 minutes is long enough to formulate an educated high-effort reply. In some of that argument you may use with someone else who jumped on "disagreeing" or "attacking" you. Thus, you end up not being able to reply to everyone because there is a 8 minute wait or whatever between comments. This gives people with the majority view power in groupthink, as they can all reply disagreeing and you can't even get a word in.

It's self evident you didn't read the post. I am arguing people need to stay, and not leave simply because people have extreme views. I said nothing about arguing against them. "Concern trolling" is from people who profess to share the goals of a group, but have "concerns" about it to sow doubts and uncertainty. Considering I am arguing non-extremists need to stay, uh, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Given your replies to me so far, I can tell. Take longer than 2-4 minutes. In fact, I suggest 15. You still have not actually defended your idea that slowing down your replies to prevent this rapid-fire spamming is somehow a bad thing, other than that you just don't like it. This is not a verbal conversation, not a chat program, there is no "can't get a word in" - you literally can at any point in future. Try again.

maybe its a good thing or a bad thing. I personally don't like it because when I make a claim and 5 different people ask for a source regarding something different, I cannot publicly reply with the source for all to see. I have to private message, etc.

It isn't "ironic". I was pointing out given how inept your replies have been, including completely misunderstanding my post, not knowing what concern trolling is, etc, you need to take more time to formulate your replies. "Irony" would be if my replies were inept, but I'm not the one conceding ground by abandoning arguments and assertions I can't defend. You are.

This is what edits are for. When I've had a lot of replies to something amounting to the same thing, I will continue the argument with who I'm talking to and link major points in the edit. That way the truly curious can read or ask relevant questions. There's literally no point in keyboard warring with 500 people on an internet forum. Your wanting to do that is just a personal preference, not "stifling your voice". At no point are you prevented from communicating. Hence, the primary point of your main post is refuted.
