The problem is that you are not as authoritarian as the left and you're getting your ass kicked. As I said, there is no reason for the left to give you an inch. But instead of advocating for your side, you die on the hill of principles people hold decreasing interest in.

I used to think that way back when I was a member of the alt-left and I used to express similar sentiments. Back then, I didn't really realize how other people would take that and how far they would go to get what they want, and that although thankfully I never stepped beyond the Moral Event Horizon to accomplish my goals, that they would.

Politics is not football. We can't treat it like football if we're going to have a meaningful democratic society or even if we're going to deal with a rogue political faction going off the fucking walls. And I have learned that it is possible to beat them with fairness, and confidence, and without stooping to the level of brutally subjugating innocent people. It's possible if you're willing to do the right thing and not care about what other people will think if you do so -- so long as your methods do not involve abusing other people.

The ends do not justify the means. The means determine the end result, and that's not a kitchy saying, that's an actual fact of life. HOW you solve problems is what actually affects the real world, not your stated goal or your intentions. Your actions are what matters. Remember that.
