I absolutely loved It! An impressive old castle, breathtaking sets, rich colours, and a general foreboding atmosphere paintedvthe perfect mood for the gothic setting of a Hammer film - of which this was most definitely was!
It was suspenseful and fun, but there were some chilling scenes, and one that was actually quite shocking.
Peter Cushing was superb as Dr. Van Helsing. David Peel doesn't quite have the stage presence of Christopher Lee, but he still did a decent job as the vampire. The beautiful Marianne was played by the gorgeous French model/actress Yvonne Monlau, who played a big role in the film, and the two other "brides', Andree Melly and Marie Devereux, were lovely as well.
It was made in 1960 with Technicolor, and this is notable because most things at that time were still being filmed in black & white. The film was novelizied that same year by Dean Owen.
There is also a fairly recent release of The Making of The Brides of Dracula (2013)
I found it on YouTube, but the account has been banned, so sadly it's no longer available.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
