Xfce - it's fast and I've been too lazy to switch to i3. The (GUI/mouse based) configurability is pretty amazing, the window snapping is great, you can even assign gaps/window margins.

Mint, Cinnamon.

Same. I tried 4 different distros about 8 years ago and found this to work very well for me.

I tried out Ubuntu, and it's nice.

Yeah, but it's a Linux thing.

Plasma on Arch fanboy. I like tweaking my environment, and I use it on an older desktop so it's lightweight for the huge amount of features.

I recently switched to this setup with i3 as a window manager. I’ve been loving it so far!

The next order of business is to ditch Plasma and use raw i3, but that’s quite daunting.

They're all mostly fine. My only real concern about a DE is that it doesn't consume too much RAM and CPU. Even KDE performs acceptably well on my old machines these days. The only one I really dislike is GNOME.

hate the cpu use, not the cpu user... eh... I know what you mean, Pantheon is significantly smoother on my ultra low end laptop but I like GNOME significantly more.

GNOME and Cinnamon for GTK+

Plasma for Qt

XFCE. MATE as second choice.
