The first Linux smartphone comes to life! Check out the company setup of Purism too: https://puri.sm/about/social-purpose/

I watched an interview with one of the founders, he's on it and very serious about privacy and this social purpose stuff. Aside from the Librem not supporting cdma the project is very hopeful and encouraging.

I had a cel phone from 1996-2003 and a smart phone from 2003-2010 ish.

I'm almost tempted to start up again for that Librem.

I love their social purpose. It's inspiring.

Of course the more "security" you get the more "they" will watch you. Do they watch us or the folks on Tor more?

It really is, this and co-ops are the evolution that's missing in capitalism, the way out for everyone sick of greedy corporations (pretty much everyone). I guess Purism would have been a traditional non-profit, but they still needed access to lines of credit, etc., like a traditional for profit company so it's some kind of happy middle ground.

They've got to be drowning in people to watch. They probably just have everyone, tor or not, being watched for keywords and key phrases. But yeah maybe everyone on Tor is specially watched.
