Been running Linux for a very long time, now what I see is a dude forcing others to use what he demands, are you going to teach your mother, sister, brother, or anyone how to use Linux ?. The 100 plus hours teaching them how to use Linux, AND this "Linux distributions are now only slightly harder to use than MacOS or Windows." is bull shit. With windows or mac you for example Google internet browser, download and install. On say Ubuntu you have to Start by opening your terminal and executing the following command to install all prerequisites:

$ sudo apt install gdebi-core

So yeah to you and I Linux is easy but not for people who has never used anything tuer than windows or Mac. Idiots trying to force your OS on others is a shit for brains move but then In a land of the witless, you sure would be king.

Nonsense. I've used Ubuntu many years and never had to enter that shell command. Why would you install packages from Debian when you're running Ubuntu? The only reasons I can think of are packages unavailable or not as stable on Ubuntu.

He shouldn't be forcing them to use Linux, I agree. But he's under no obligation to help them out either.

I must have been typing in denglisch because you failed to see/read "example", now as for "I've used Ubuntu many years and never had to enter that shell command. " you poor snowflake are full of shit so piss off.

Or you can use the nice software manager most distros come with and select your apps and install them.

Not defending his decision, but people need to try harder. This get comfortable with anything and take the easiest route is why the reason why some of us are migrating to Linux. Although, I don't know how much it helps with systemd and ime and all that crap that runs behind the scenes.
