I got one last summer (Postmarket OS edition) and hocked it on Ebay a month later. I love the idea and the spirit of the project, especially the manual kill switches for the mic/radio/camera etc... but as a daily driver it was less than useable. An actual linux developer might have had a totally different experience. Ubuntu Touch seemed like the most stable OS, IMO. If it could sideload stock android or LineageOS I'd probly still be using it. The big seller for me was the USB-C hub to connect it with an external monitor and keyboard, a single device phone/desktop would be awesome.
