Let us be real. If UNIX were to have a desktop it would be MAC OS or BSD. No serious Linux people even want a GUI, let alone full desktop functionality. Linux fan boys need to let it go.

I have been begging for years to have Linux be competitive. It is so bad that I went back to Windows servers. Linux isn't just painful to use, the devs deliberately retain bad "features." This isn't 1994. I shouldn't need complex terminal commands for what a double click can accomplish in other OSes.

P.S. Diet Pi is an example of Linux done right. I run it in Hyper-V for my Linux services. No X-Window/GUI has impressed me, but Q4OS is pretty good. Latest Lubuntu is pretty usable. I only run Debian based OSes though... Hate MAC Though it gets many things very right. Windows networking seems broken, but most of the OS isn't plainly stupid and obtuse. Also running programs requires that you click on them, not write a novel (plus some security stuff sometimes.

Micro$oft is in control of The Linux Foundation. If you honestly think that they are going to do anything at all to push the Linux desktop then you are an idiot.

I don't think users take TLF seriously anyway.
