For unpacking, you can use unp and you won't have to think about what the right command is anymore.

This sounds great, I always have to search because I can never remember if it's tar -xvjf or xvzf or whatever for bz2 and gz files.

7zip is in the standard repositories for the majority, if not all, of Linux distros.
