My cell carrier will still be babysitting the shit out of me. At least on this PinePhone and the Purism phone there are kill switches to turn off the cellular modem if you don't want it pinging the mothership constantly.

Nice.

This fall I was building things with bamboo for Xmas. (I should finish up a few of them and take a photo of what I have left.) It occurred to me that I could make custom super light weight computer cases/towers and/or mini/cases to dock my drives, make a FreeNAS or whatev, or build a micro PCs from a Raspberri Pi or Pine64 or whatev.

Then this. Now I'm like, so much for bamboozlinging.

Wasn't meant to be anyway. I've since dropped a few of my structures to find that I need a better glue or something before I manufacture anything.

Would be neat though, hire some people to follow my instructions and build things to sell online, while I and maybe others develop new things to make/sell. And maybe after a while open source the instructions.

I have decent collection of laser cut plywood furniture designs I mean to finish digitizing and share. In SoMa SF, 2001-2002 I painted this acanthus floor, the valences that went on the ceiling face down with lights above, and the book shelf, above the computer desk/bench. So a Linux smartphone buzzkilled your bamboo hustle? I dig bamboo surrounding electronics, it's good contrast. Yeah you probably could get somewhere with open source designs to build a following.

Ya, kinda. I don't go anywhere like I used to so I don't need mobile devices - except I need a better iPod-like device for my walks. So I'm still tempted to DIY myself something - and maybe even make a bamboo case for it. Or embed it in a hat somehow. If I do travel again, it would be nice if it could do more, in case - and maybe be a critical backup.

I like making BIG art. If I wasn't an animator seen by millions I would likely have been an architect, fashion photographer, designer, or bum. Paintings are okay, but too small, and seen by too few. It's like writing a brilliant novel and only showing the few hundred people who will ever walk into that room.

In 2015-2016 I was trying to offer free murals to my community - they'd all match and build up community branding, etc etc etc - but not only is it all so political even on a small scale, but people are selfish and stuck in their own petty lives. Windsor has a lot of shitty art along its waterfront. One day I'd like to pitch them some different ideas - like hyperboloid structures (I added the images), such as the Killesberg Tower Tachov High Lookout Tower.JPG). It's not quite the rotating restaurant that most major cities have for those who can afford it, but it might be a nice tourist site with a view for the City of Windsor in a painfully dull and flat landscape, directly across the river from ex Motor City USA. It's not quite the 20 mile high tower of my BsS story, but within I touch on some of those principles and Tensegrity, which also has neat sculpture potential.

If you ever run across neat concepts, feel free to pitch them at me. I'm still working on my project - but all over it. Once I have something clear enough for you to follow I'll share.
