Attention Libertarian Normies: The American Government is Not Fascist!
It cannot be denied that Fascism and similar movements aiming at the establishment of dictatorships are full of the best intentions and that their intervention has, for the moment, saved European civilization. The merit that Fascism has thereby won for itself will live on eternally in history.
- Liberalism, Ludwig von Mises
Fascism is not the merger of business and state. Corporatism is a specific syndicalist theory where guilds or unions have state representation. Business and government collusion is just called mercantalism. The fascists were not in favor of that. In fact, the fascists didn't really do their syndicalist plans, they just pretended to.
They had a more liberal economy than the USA at the time.
Before the stupid wars they got into they cut taxes, implementing free trade against some labor and business objections, didn't interfere with labor relations or production, strongly considered going on the gold standard and balanced the budget. Even if they had practiced corporatism it's not socialist. Mises called it pseudo-socialism, it's worker's capitalism.
Fascists were a counter revolutionary imitation of the left. They are right wingers who came up to stop real socialism. This is not an apologetic for fascism, which failed massively, their theories were weird and didn't really make any sense. That's no reason to be ignorant and use the word like dumb democracy normies.
Totalitarian in Mussolini's fascism also didn't mean government control over everything. It meant all strata of society were to be represented, as opposed to class war or bourgeoisie property requirements.
I have heard anarcho communists correct people on this before. It's ridiculous that libertarians keep using the Fascist swear word and related terms incorrectly. Do you really want to sound dumber than anComs? Stop repeating leftist and Republican memes.
If you actually want to discuss and criticize fascism read books by Stanley Payne, Paul Gottfried, Robert O. Paxton, Ernst Nolte and the like about about what fascism actually was, or don't talk about it. You'll end up sounding retarded, like Jonah Goldberg or the stupid BoomerCons who call everything communism.
And Nazis weren't fascist.
Don't be a normie. There are enough normies.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
