The Marc A. Thiessen column, “Hope for bipartisanship is dead. And Biden killed it,” in the March 16 edition of The Plain Dealer, was beyond the hypocritical. Was the Republican Party acting in a bipartisan way when only Republicans voted for the tax cuts of 2017? Was it bipartisan when Republicans repeatedly tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act? Was it bipartisan when Republicans refused to even consider the nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court? Was it bipartisan when Republicans found a way to vote for the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court right before the 2020 election?

Before Marc Thiessen complains about President Joe Biden, who has been in office less than 100 days, he should consider the actions that Republicans took in recent years, and ask whether they were in the spirit of bipartisanship.
