Ahhh I understand your frustration, but at the same time, I'd love to have this as a problem😂. Where I live people are so homophobic that hearing something like this would be impossible. At best, people just ignore lesbian or gay couples, but mostly they'd say sth rude or insulting. I don't think that the straight women you're referring to in your post have bad intentions or even think much about their word choice, or that it implies that the relationship isn't serious. I've also heard the phrase being used for straight couples too...

I like when people say me and my gf are cute together (but this is my first relationship so maybe I'm biased cus I love being reminded that we're actually together and I'm finally in a relationship w a woman I love!) I could see it being annoying if it's said in an "uwu cute and girly" kind of way though.

I can't relate because I haven't heard much of anything from straight people about lesbian couples IRL. But I have heard "Aww, they're so cute together" being used for straight couples.

Maybe it's just a word choice thing? Like what else would they say instead of cute? "Aww, they're so pretty together?"...Maybe, but that might be weird for straight women to say. "Aww, they look good together?" Maybe a straight woman can't tell? IDK how straight women see lesbian couples, but to me, straight couples look "off," you know? I say "they look cute together" about straight couples as a kind of courtesy. I rarely say a straight couple "looks good together" because I honestly can't tell LOL.

I'm with you, I say it to straight couples as well. Its just something you say if you dont have any other response but want to be supportive. You look cute/nice/happy together.
