I found the post you're referencing and I don't think that's what the OP intended, but I can understand how it can be read that way and how hurtful that can be when viewed through a certain lens. I'm not a survivor myself, just dated one and supported her through all the court/therapy/panic attack stuff.

I know for some people it can be a source of doubt in the confidence of their sexuality (or they may have been told by others it should be a source of doubt), so I can't imagine reading a post with similar vibes was fun. And anyway, it's not like sleeping with women magically negates the risk of flashbacks caused by sex. So I really don't see the idea OP was bringing up (survivors faking their sexuality to avoid sleeping with men or something) being something that happens much, if ever.

Anyway, I hope your night gets better.

Thank you! Its extremely messed up after going through what sexual assault survivors do to then be invalidated in a supposedly safe space.

Yeah it is very messed up and I completely agree with what you're saying, but s/lesbians is not a "safe space", thank god. In my mind, safe space = groupthinking, teenagers, Tumblr, coddling, hourly "you are valid" posts, etc.

There's been quite a few comments and opinions that I think are offensive or kooky but I just shrug it off or reply with a counter opinion. The way of the internet

dude all I mean by safe space is homosexual women can speak without being called transphobic... I'm in my 30s. Thats a safe space to me.

Oh. In that case, s/lesbians is a "safe space" :)

This is not a "safe space".

I’m so sick of people like you. Don’t defend what’s clearly wrong.

[–]MyLongestJourney 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I would never defend things that are clearly wrong like lying out of your teeth and defaming a whole sub.

I said one thing was wrong and you extrapolate that to “defaming a whole sub” dude get over yourself holy shit.

You accused this sub of supporting a abhorrent (and illogical) view. Shame on you.

LOL no. I said “anyone who believes this” and then YOU got triggered. Ask yourself why.

Reported.

Reported for what? Speaking back to you? I’m shocked at how sexual assault victims are treated by people like you. This is horrifying
