I'm mostly a lurker. I come to read other people's posts when I'm lonely and bored, but I don't have the mental energy to come up with anything to say

Hear, hear.

May I ask the origin of your username? If it has one!

Haha sure, it doesn't really have an origin. I just put the first thing that came into my head that wouldn't identify me to anyone I know if they happened to come across this website. I guess it does kind of sound like a waltz, if that's what you were thinking, and I do like dancing, so I guess that's what it can mean now lol

I'm a loooong time lurker but I finally joined when I saw there was 899 subscribers just so I could be the 900th

I've been here for a while and used to comment more, but lately it feels kind of dead. There were also a few posters whose posts and comments I really enjoyed who seem to have left.

Can't explain the silent new people though.

Originally TL had a much larger proportion of lurkers than commenters... 19k members and maybe 200 dedicated posters and 1-2k that chipped in once in a blue moon, at least towards the end...

Lol give it time...it took me from the time TL was banned last year until maybe a month ago to create a profile and comment on anything.

But these people have accounts and have subbed which is why I don't get it. Why do they even bother with that if they're only here to read.

Maybe they’re shy

Well, in my case since I'm from Poland, I grew up and live in an entirely different environment than western lesbians. I think most posters here are from US and UK? So I often can't really relate to many struggles, so I just kinda lurk and read about your experiences. At the same time I don't really bother to share my experiences, since it's nothing that older western lesbians haven't been through. We are just a few decades behind in experiences.

haha I guess that's a possibility. I don't understand being shy on an anonymous forum, but there are definitely people like that.

There are only 911 subscribers that’s a small pool of people maybe they’re worried people they know would be able to identify them more easily. There could be any number of reasons, but hopefully it’ll get more engaging as time goes on.

ah that's something I never even considered. Makes sense

I'm a phone person and I find Saidit to be awkward to use on my phone. I check here occasionally but rarely have anything interesting to contribute.

I also joined when the sub was new but I don't feel like I can contribute that much to most of the discussions since I'm chronically single and newly-out. It's nice to read other people's stories but I don't have many of my own

I've been here since like the beginning I guess, but I've never posted and don't comment a lot... because sometimes I'm too lazy I guess, or have nothing to really say... also I'm always glad to see a new post here, but at the same time posts about, say, topics like people who insist lesbians can like dick, or whatever can be tiring like y'know seen it a million times before.

I used to be a lurker but I finally posted. I just made this account though, so it didn't feel right posting on any of the older threads. It took a long time to make an account because I thought this place wouldn't be very active with only about 900 subscribers. I was just going to make an account for r/TrueLesbians until that place got the ax :(

I'm also painfully shy, which is why it took me so long to begin with. It does seem silly to be afraid to post on an anonymous forum, but fear isn't rational. I was worried that I either a) wouldn't have anything interesting to say, therefore it wouldn't be worth reading/writing or b) I would say something "wrong" or "offensive" and risk getting dog piled on. IDK what it's like for other people who are anxious about posting, but for me, I finally got tired of not joining in.

Because I'm bisexual and shouldn't be posting here! But I enjoy seeing your discussions

Oh, hi! I'm one of these lurkers, too. personally, I don't really comment often because I'm shy and quite rarely check this place, it's not really active unfortunately :( although I guess it could be fixed if more people like me were active. sometimes I also don't really have anything to say, or I feel like my opinion on a particular topic isn't important because I haven't had a girlfriend (and I don't necessarily want one just know have other shit to deal with).

sometimes, tho, it's just nice to read what other lesbians have to say and not feel extremely lonely. that's probably the only reason I even joined here.
