Fifteen or so years down the road I'm really rooting for Ellen to come forward and say how brainwashed she was and how homophobic trans people and the queers that support them really are. I've got a good intuition, I can see some sort of de-transition documentary or something someday. Poor girl, she needs something like that, her career is over anyway. She's in my prayers (as are a lot of people, even if I'm not even tangentially related to their life lol). I hope she gets better, honestly.

I find it interesting that so many people seem to think she is going to detransition at some point. (Not that I disagree; I think she will too!) But I think it's a testament to how much faith so many people put in her that even despite this, some of that faith in her lingers.

Good point! I think, maybe for all us semi-young ones, she was the first and sadly only youngish lesbian to come out and we could relate to her. And I think, those of us who've been following her and have been watching her stuff since we were tweens/teens...it's a "takes one to know one" kind of situation. I know I'm a lesbian, and I know she is too, I've seen enough of her and I just know. I've also called out people before as being trans (before it happened) in my life who IDed as gay/bi at the time and later came out of trans instead, so I have a track record of a good gaydar and a good "You're-not-so-gaydar" lmao. Mix that in with some nostalgia and knowing firsthand how hypnotic the trans movement and any cult can be...and you're left with a big heap of hope.
