Agreed. Without Trump in power as this great bad other/foil to compare themselves against, left wing people in the U.S. have less incentive to not contradict for the purpose of creating the appearance of a united front. So that gives them some breathing room to get out of this not-so-pure purity spiral.

I admit that I wondered if the Reddit banwave was an attempt to unite the left wing, so they were more likely to vote Trump out. I have no idea if it's true but the thought did cross my mind.

I don’t think it is, if they wanted to do that they would have gone after different additional subs (this is directed at Lizzy I don’t get why saidit nesting breaks for me, sorry)

Reddit did go after some far left subs - it wasnt just the massacre of women's spaces back then.
