I might enjoy this song if it was sung by someone else. Lana Del Rey's voice is very polarizing. You either love it or you hate it, and I fall into the latter.

Never been able to get into her and I find all her live performances extremely forgettable unless they are exceptionally bad like this one or this one. Lana fans, watch those vids at your own discretion

Well I definitely, love her voice, and I agree that it can be polarizing. I find it hauntingly beautiful and versatile. I personally don't care to dwell on her worst performances since they take away nothing from the connection I personally feel to her music. I wish she didn't vape though because that does diminish her voice.

Anyway, interesting that you say you might enjoy the song if it was sung by someone else, but you don't seem to take issue with the song itself because that's what she prides herself in, her songwriting, not her performance because she has always suffered from stage anxiety. She often uses her performances to be experimental and sometimes it lands, and sometimes it doesn't. But she's always been a more behind-the-scenes, awkward, shy, low-key person focused on storytelling and songwriting, and more of an artist's artist (in that a lot of other musicians are huge fans of hers). She's lived in LA for the past 5+ years now and she's still stayed out of the spotlight and is possibly the only person to move to LA and end up in a better mental health state than when she got there.

I was actually gonna say kudos to you when I clicked the first link and it wasn't the SNL performance from almost 9 years ago when she was at the height of her stage anxiety, which has gotten better over time. But then I opened your second link. Most people got the complete wrong impression of her as an artist because of how she was marketed around Born To Die, which happened very suddenly. And also despite the first link being a couple of years ago, it's still Born To Die era music, so for anyone else reading this who judged her exclusively based on her Born To Die era music, consider giving the rest of her body of work a chance.

Anyway, you don't have to like Lana, and I'm not out to convert people who actually dislike her/her music, but something about your last line ("Lana fans, watch those vids at your own discretion") came across as "you wouldn't like her if you knew what I knew." But no, we hear this all the time.

Edit: Just noticed that your second link (the SNL performance) is to Lana's own channel. Ballsy, but she clearly dgaf.

Sorry, that's not the impression I was trying to give. I don't care if anyone likes her or not, I'm definitely not out to convert people either. I just posted those videos because they're entertaining.
