So the love triangle with a guy in a lesbian movie is kind of an unfortunate given, but what I like about this one is that there was nothing really wrong with Heck. He was a decent guy. He cared about Rachel and there was nothing objectively wrong about their relationship. Some people would say that makes Rachel leaving him especially shitty, but I think that's what makes this movie more realistic. I think it sends the wrong message to depict women using lesbianism/bisexuality as an escape from a shitty or boring relationship with a shitty man. I'm reminded of all of the r/LBL stories that are a parade of red flags where people act like lesbianism/bisexuality is a lifestyle change and a way to build excitement in their lives. This is so much more relatable to me personally.

Another thing I find interesting about this film given that it's from 2005 is that I don't recall any homophobia or any concerns of potential homophobia. That's a glaring omission, and makes me wonder about the financing, production, and motivation behind this movie.

Finally, Lena Headey! IMO, she would make a fine lesbian IRL. But in all seriousness, I liked the way she depicted the awkwardness of "I'm attracted to you, but I'm trying to be respectful and keep my distance, but I'm also really attracted to you." Relatable.

Also, that time Rachel went to the video store to rent lesbian porn lol.

Interesting point in your first paragraph. Did you feel that the film depicted a woman "using lesbianism/bisexuality as an escape" with any self awareness? I'm not actually sure if the film was written by a lesbian or bisexual or straight woman or man or what
