God I'm so fucking tired of being told that I'm less of a woman or that I have a "different relationship to womanhood" just because I like to lick pussy.

I’ve been told I am not a “real” woman a lot over the years, and it has always been straight women who imply it.

What was the context? For some reason I picture someone like my conservative Christian aunt saying this and she’s in her 70s. I’ve heard some phrasing before but my mind can’t reconstruct the ideas bc my brain just breaks when I try to contort myself in that direction. Something about relationships with men being an inherent part of being female/femininity and male and female sexes needing each other for balance. There’s also a sad undercurrent of “ew vaginas are dirty” shame.

Well now you get to hear it from other lesbians! How lucky :D

To give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's talking about being detached from the stereotypical idea of womanhood (ie heterosexual, feminine, etc). But idk its hard to tell what she really means.

Yeah, I felt a lot like this before and after I realized I was attracted to girls growing up. So much of "being a girl/woman" is directly tied to pleasing or placating men and acting out feminine gender roles. People act like lesbians are defective women because we're not attracted to men. Or worse, they think we actually want to be men because we don't fit their stereotypical idea of what a woman should act like, look like, or do. That definitely led me to internalize a lot of misogyny and lesbophobia when I was younger. It's what sucks a lot of young lesbians into the TQ black hole and you can tell it's getting worse just looking at the number of detransitioned lesbians coming out in waves.

That said... I went to her profile and she uploaded this and this. So she's just yet another bisexual woman calling herself a lesbian/gay.

of course 🙄

[–]FlanJam 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally agree. Not to mention its hard to relate to straight/bi women sometimes, which makes me feel distanced from the majority of women. So I can sympathize with why some lesbians feel that way.

Also, can't say I'm surprised she's actually bi...

[–]peaked2020 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

How does she say she’s coming out as bisexual... yet in her profile it’s “I’m gay”... and in so many of her songs it’s about being lesbian?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

She looks like a trans

[–]Hydiee 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (13 children)

Ok I'm going to take a guess. Do they think womanhood = being attracted to men?

That's the only explanation I can come up with

[–]yousaythosethings 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (12 children)

This idea was more popular around today’s 70-somethings. But what’s old is new again.

Unfortunately this kind of thinking is a plague among lesbians in my area these days. I am told they don’t “feel like women.” I don’t what that means but when I talk about myself they suggest that I’m “agender” because “it’s a thing” and I said I don’t feel like I have a gender identity and that gender doesn’t feel like an important part of my life. Sigh.

My thought is that if you don’t feel like a woman, what am I licking and how should I feel about that? It’s such a turnoff. How are any of them having any semblance of a sex life when they feel that disconnected from their bodies and reality?

New political climate is all about "gender" and "gender identity", based on "gender stereotypes". And it all is pushed by different organizations like Mermaids among young kids and teens, so they are growing up on this bullsh*t (sorry for my French).

If you a girl, but you like cars - you are transman. If you are boy, but you like dolls - you are transwoman.

And "loving women" is "man stereotype", so "lesbian must be transman" in GenderQueer theory. This means that for GenderQueer theory to work, lesbians must not be women and must be not connected to womanhood, otherwise theory makes no sense. So those stupid ideas are pushed around in all media. If there are people speaking against it - they are cancelled from their jobs, or outright banned (Reddit and Facebook just swept gender critical and true lesbians away, so young people and teen lesbians will not see normal people like us and will only see that woke agenda around and think "it is normal").

So 100-years old stereotypes are back again and are enforced again. This time not by conservatives, but by "progressives".

What’s old just got old again! Lol

Also: everyone is a-gender. The reason people don’t feel like a woman or a man is because they are the ones who believe in stereotypes and don’t relate to them. That’s not our problem!

My thought is that if you don’t feel like a woman, what am I licking and how should I feel about that?

Looooooool. Similarly when an ex goes non-binary I just think wth was I licking? Ladies we have questionable licking history because of these ppl! :D

Edit: Good point on what is old is new again.

Between the toddler sorting and our dating pool changing based on their identity without even giving us a courtesy notification that our sexual orientation has changed yet again, who even are we? And how can we ever communicate that to anyone else?

Queer Homework Assignment: Pick whatever gender pleases you the most (Let’s say stargender), claim that stargender identity, and then tell an ex she (or probably “they,” lez be real) must now identify as a stargenderfucker. And she/they must tell all her/their exes that they must now identify as stargenderfuckerfuckers. You know, pay it forward and such.

[–]Innisfree 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (4 children)

You have just written one of those brill things that makes you laugh - cry, because it is true, but is also so bloody ridiculous it hurts.

And boy oh boy, I bet many people here were on the receiving end of such communication.

  • Hello, I'd like to inform you are now a stargender fucker.

What happens to the people who have a few exes who re-identified? The genderized pay-it-forawrd intensifies...

Now I’ve never played before so I can’t say for sure, but I feel like the end result is some kind of kwirky kweer combo of musical chairs, the Wheel of Fortune, and this episode of the Office. Also, Putin can take the day off and touch up his Botox and fillers because America, Canada, the UK, etc. have identified themselves out of power. Like seriously. The Anglosphere is becoming simultaneously the softest society but also the most intolerant and hostile but we’re fighting each other. Maybe now the UK will survive if Scotland gets a grip.

In any case, Gen Z is remarkably sexually inactive so this is how we go down apparently.

[–]Innisfree 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I can't 😂. Stroke of genius with the musical chairs and The Office analogies!

Putin can take the day off and touch up his Botox and fillers because America, Canada, the UK, etc. have identified themselves out of power.

That's the reason for that sly knowing smile he wears all the time. He plays this point that the west is soft - so often.

You know how the press likes to compare today's time with the '30s in Europe, I heard one historian say that it's actually more like after the invention of the Gutenberg press. The information and misinformation spread with unprecedented speed - which, in part, contributes to 'softness'. I suppose we can only hope that the next stage is a backlash from our poor beleaguered skeptics and empiricists.

While Putin and the West do their thing, quietly and steadily stuff goes on in Africa and China.

Funny enough they covered the idea of bringing the printing press to court in the new show The Great, which is a fictional show about Catherine the Great and her rise to power in Imperial Russia. Of course it gets used for gossip and, yes, disinformation immediately.

Ugh, I hate when Putin is right. And I hate how he doesn’t even need to be stealthy. His tactics are pretty brutalist and basic but he’s patient af.

[–]Innisfree 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ah, interesting show - thanks! Hulu seems to be going all in on corsets. First Harlots, now this. We approve :)

And, you pretty much summed up Putin.

So gender is an STI?

[–]yousaythosethings 6 insightful - 6 fun6 insightful - 5 fun7 insightful - 6 fun -  (1 child)

Sexually Transmitted Identity? I mean. . . .

Checks out 😬

[–]babystud 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ill bet money that most of them arent even actually lesbians

[–]votkriscan 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Again it's due to the gender/idenity/trans issue. Even lesbians aren't absolved of any cultural plaques that might hit them. In fact, sometimes, they might be more vulnerable towards them. There is also a counter-culture thing going on in anglophone countries, where it's considered partially cool (in related circles) to be against the flow.
