Testo junkie. Read that one. If you can get through it. Also I have read all of virginie’s novels. I LOVE hyene. Virginie has a PILE of empathy for humans. Even in Vernon Subutex. Imagine she is quite sensitive. When I read testo junkie it just confirmed what i thought

Merci beaucoup! I've ordered Vernon Subutex recently after reading her King Kong Théorie. Her empathy for all kinds of humans shines through that book, despite it being more of a manifesto.

I might dive into testo junkie, because I like Virginie and want to have an idea of what she went through.

I imagine realizing you are a dyke, and then that your stupid gf is literally going to continue to take synthetic hormones because she hates herself and has made a whole career out of cognitive dissonance must have been a bummer for her. She has a different gf now

I think they were together for at least 5 years? That must've been a lot of 'gut punches' like that!

Listened to an interview she gave recently (bless France Culture) - she talks about how she has mellowed, how she has found a sort of quiet happiness and steadiness (aka her gf, her dog Philomène, old friends and a healthy balance with work). She really painted a lovely picture of a lesbian in the prime of her life - 50s.
