U.S. minimum wage is $7.25 / hour . . . If anyone in a position of power was even trying, it would be double that. If they could get away with just buying people and getting free slave labor, it would be that.

You try to find even semi-skilled labor for $7.25/hour right now and let me know if you have any success. Even some non-skilled jobs in my area are starting at $11 an hour right now because people are still choosing sit at home for the extra Covid-19 unemployment.
