Okay, I'll try. Governments do not have their own money, the raise money through taxation. Here in the UK and proberly in the US universities will apply to government for fund for research. So governments through universities will do most of the initial R&D into new tech, this is then most likely to be appropriate by the security services and military and then sold on to the corporate sector as the properties of the Intel (security sevices) community or military sector. Companies like InQtel and DARPA, even these two entities although are private companies they still get government grants ( public funds). Which brings me to my original point, if the amount of private investment in the covid Vax is thought to be 2%, so why is 100% of the profits going into private pockets....why? I don't see your problem, as a tax payer this is a reasonable question.

I agree that publicly funded research should come with a requirement that profits get paid back into the government. That is something we can improve on. However, that is not a pro-commnist argument. That is not a pro anything argument. When you make that argument as an insinuation that a different system would be better you are lying. No system can ever have open research because then every other country will just steal all that research and then spend their money literally advancing past the suckers who made theirs freely available. The discussion to be had here is how profitable is it to the tax payers to fund research for companies that then pay taxes? How can we create a watchdog system to make sure benefits are returned to the tax payers? Those are fair discussions. Not "hur dur capitalism is bad do communism".

I never said it was an argument for communism, there are very powerful arguments in favour communism, but that wasn't one of them. And thanks for the almost civil response.
