I mean, seriously, anyone who thinks that someone has ever EARNED a Billion $, you're a sucker! lol

[–]EndlessSunflowers[S] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (60 children)

They straight up exploit other people. Period.
For their shallow, meaningless, materialism....

[–]Zapped 8 insightful - 4 fun8 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 4 fun -  (58 children)

How would have the product or service been produced? People who have never tried to run a business often underestimate how difficult of a skill set it takes to produce on a large scale. Of course the business leader/owner can't do all the work themselves, but they manage the operation and people and do a lot of work that most people never see. To add to their skill set, most business owners work up to double the hours of their employees until they get to a place where the business starts to "run itself".

[–][deleted] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (43 children)

This doesn't justify anything, nor does it fit the reality of billionaires. You speak of millionaires, people who throw themselves into their self-made businesses to the detriment of their personal lives. My parents have done this. They work very hard to have their million dollars.

Billionaires are an entirely different beast, and you shouldn't try to employ shitty logic to justify their massive wealth.

[–]Zapped 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (38 children)

Are you saying that the billionaires didn't work hard for their wealth? Should people let their bank account get to a certain size and then walk away, waiting who knows how long for someone else to figure things where they left off and help propel commerce and technology, and by extension, society? If the value in what they produce wasn't there, they wouldn't make that much. Not everyone can be a Bill Gates or an Elon Musk, just like everyone can't be a Michael Jordon or a Michael Phelps.

[–][deleted] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (33 children)

You argue like a highschool economics teacher. Billionaires never work for every dollar they have. It is impossible.

Value is fixed. Our monetary systems are rigged. There are natural reasons and foundations for our value system, but it is rigged. You can try to argue otherwise, but I have seen it and experienced it. At the end of the day, you play the game by their rules, and you make it. To play the game and win, you'd have to either be 100 % uncorruptible, or you'd have to be ignorant of true morality. You and I don't know of any uncorrupted billionaire. They may exist, but I highly doubt it. The rich moral folks have millions, not billions.

I wouldn't want to be like Elon or Bill, or either of the Michaels. They have no real skills and are so disconnected from reality, it isn't even funny. What horrible examples to try to use.

Is this really your argument? That we need money to make progress? That folks like Bill and Elon are hard workers?

Bull shit. I'm not some liberal bitch, either. My parents are top dog breeders/trainers, we make great money, and we all work very hard.

[–]copenseethe 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

It sounds like all your material needs are provided by your parents.

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I work closely with my family, and take a smaller paycheck than my co-workers, all on my own volition.

Yes, I live with my family and our lives are inter-connected. I am their primary employee. Watch yourself.

There is nothing wrong eating the eggs from their chickens or bathing in the water from their well. I work for it.

[–]Jesus 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Billionaires hate farmers and the tillers of the soil. The war is on the homesteaders.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is very true. PETA came after us with the help of a State Rep, but nothing can stop happy healthy doggies and those who love em.

[–]jet199 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

No one works for every dollar that have so I don't know what that's got to do with anything.

[–]Jesus 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Workers work for every dollar they own and they get back half of it.

[–]Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Your style is very combative and condescending here and choose to not play anymore with you.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I will take your words to heart, and next time we interact, I hope to be less combative.

Nothing I said was wrong though.

[–]Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Thanks for stepping back for a moment. I didn't want to get into a tit-for-tat. You have a valid point of view that I happen to disagree with from where I stand.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I only do it with you because you have made comments I have saved and stored. Other users who ask for some quality discussion get my big toe.

[–]Bigs 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (19 children)

Billionaires don't work for money, that's true, they make money work for them. Christ you jealous little shits are tiresome.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (17 children)

That's not money that's working for them, that's a bunch of "jealous little shits"

Don't be so disconnected from reality, smalls.

[–]Bigs 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (16 children)

That you don't understand even the most BASIC part of capitalism is why you have no right to whine (like a little bitch) about it.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (15 children)

I understand capitalism. It is human illusion, and sure, you can cash in on it, but is an illusion. You propagate their scams for them.

Then you act like there is virtue in that? Fucking laughable.

I work very hard for a couple of capitalists. I make them good money. I know how it works, you old man. My family is doing much better than most. I can tell you, it has done nothing for their minds or their hearts.

I can tell that all that cash did nothing for you but help you escape.

[–]InvoluntaryHalibut 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

What did they work hard at? Fucking over america? The system is fundamentally flawed and corrupt. Wall street financiers and corporate CEOs destroyed the functional prosperous economy of america. They used our 401 Ks to fund chinese factory growth while shutting down all manufacturing here. They fucked us.

Billionaires worked hard at raping us and destroying our country.

oh gee Mr. Billionaire you’re such a hard working conscientious rapist.

Fuck that. Propel commerce and technology indeed. They took a wrecking ball to it.

[–]Zapped 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

False syllogism. Not all inclusive. Not all exclusive.

[–]Node 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

help propel commerce and technology

This appears to be far more harmful to our species than not.

[–]InvoluntaryHalibut 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Commerce and technology are just dreaming up one nightmare after another.

Commerce and technology gave us covid.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

And don't forget the fact that most businesses owners are dirt poor. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. That's so'm neither Capitalists nor Socialists understand.

[–]C3P0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Well, part of entrepreneurship is that you must have capital to risk, so in any case, I wouldn't consider them "dirt poor." Also, you'd have a hard time getting food stamps if SNAP finds out you just opened a business.

In the immortal words of Gordon Gekko... "Greed is good". Greed drives people to make things and then try to expand on that and make it better to earn more money. The reason we have things as good as we do is due to greed. Capitalism is all about greed and I am fine with that. Greed makes the world a better place. Money drives people to be motivated. Pharmaceutical makers are a prime example. I love listening to people bitching about pharmacy prices. If they weren't making all that moola they wouldn't be driven to make new/better medicines.

    [–][deleted] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Your logic is shite. Greed isn't good.

    [–]Iam1ofMany 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It isn't good... it is great.

    😮

    [–]InvoluntaryHalibut 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

We had a ton of great cheap antivirals that all work well to cure early stage covid and prevent people from develop severe covid. Cheap 50 year old medications that are safe. I can make and airtight case for the effectiveness of a number of them that I researched that bury the new fangled big pharma interventions that were pushed by oligarchs.

But they couldnt make any money on those because of expired patents. So everybody had to die. And oligarchs pushed bad studies that demonized covid cures.

Big pharma pushes whatever new bullshit product they have over established effective drugs with known safety profiles. CDC/FDA/Congress are in bed with these guys and they all suck each other off.

Half a million americans died this year from covid, most of them didn’t have to.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Ace inhibitors were associated with a 68% reduction iirc in contracting corona because they both act on the same pathway. I thought that deserved bigger consideration.

Although they aren't suitable for everyone, people with normal blood pressure would feel dizzy on them.

    [–]InvoluntaryHalibut 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Wow you’re saying ACE inhibitors were shown to be prophylactic? That is really interesting. I researched a little bit about ACE inhibitors and outcomes early on because a family member uses it. Initially some people said ACE inhibitors might exacerbate covid, but the data seemed to show the reverse.

I think there are a number of better alternatives for prophylaxis. HCQ or Ivermectin will both work. So will quinine (tonic water) and stuff like quercetin and EGCG. They all inhibit the viral replication. Even when they “fail” they work to lessen severity. I think ivermectin is a really good choice which is easy to obtain.

    https://saidit.net/s/Coronavirus/comments/7thx/ivermectin_cheap_covid_treatment_shown_to_be/

But a liter of high quality tonic water a day (Schweppes, Seagrams, Canada Dry) will have about 60 or 65 mg of quinine base, which should make a significant difference on outcomes.

I think theres been some studies on Vit C and D and susceptibility as well.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, (ACE2 "receptor") protein provides the entry point for the corona virus to hook into. Ace inhibitors inhibit that protein so less opportunity for infection.

    [–]InvoluntaryHalibut 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Indeed. I was aware of that. However the angiotensin renin system is so complicated that it is just not readily apparant to me why. I researched the issue a little about a year ago. But its complicated. I cant remember how it works. But there were doctors saying the ACE inhibitors might actually make covid worse. Also ACE2 is not the same as ACE2 receptor.

The reason we have things as good as we do is due to greed.

What makes you think any of this is good?

    [–]Node 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    produce on a large scale

    Is this a desirable goal?

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You can still have business owners without paying the top one-percent more than the entire bottom ninety percent combined.

I, however, reject ES's notion of the "bourgeoisie" oppressing the "proletariat." Most business owners are dirt poor — they're exploited just as much as Working-class folks like me! By who? Billionaires, mainstream media, and government bureaucrats.

Class conflict will get us nowhere! We have to unify the Nation, purge the traitors, and enforce class cooperation. No class should be allowed to garner enough wealth and power to threaten the national well-being.
