If one has to do something(like wear a mask?..) to be "queer", then it's not an intrinsic trait.

Most people in my country wore masks, including most straight people. In fact, I stopped wearing them as soon as the mandate was lifted back in March last year. In fact, I was against mask mandates from the beginning. Meanwhile, my heterosexual parents complained about people not wearing masks and my heterosexual brother confronted people who didn’t wear them. I guess that means the gay fella in the family is the only one who isn’t queer.
