This shit is really starting to get on my nerves so much. How many times do we have to go over this? Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera were self-identified drag queens, not transwomen. Marsha didn't arrive until after the riots already started and Sylvia was konked out on heroin at the time.

Also, for as much as TRAs love to scream about "women of color", they sure just love to completely ignore Storme DeLarverie.

Also Stonewall isn't the be all end all of all gay rights everywhere, this shit needs to stop. I'm American and even I'm getting fed up with the US-centrism. The Stonewall Riots occurred in 1969. France decriminalized homosexuality in 1791. And it wasn't the only country to do so long before Stonewall either: Belgium (1795), The Netherlands (1811), Iceland (1940) just to name a small handful. People need to quit acting like Stonewall was the start of all gay rights everywhere, it wasn't the start even here in the US. The state of Illinois had already decriminalized same sex activity in 1961.

mpj being trans, gay rights starting in the US, none of that matters because mpj did absolute fuck all in life. his so-called contribution to gay rights movement was cramming a bunch of other homeless transvestites in to shitty, rundown motels and calling it revolutionary

Have you (or anyone here) watched the documentary about him on Netflix? I haven't, because I didn't want to give it views, but if it's informative I will.

I did, years ago. It was pretty interesting, it talked about the mental illness Malcolm dealt with and him being a prostitute. Also has that quote from him about being shocked someone thought he was female.

By the way, you don't have to give a video views. I use this website called Piped, it's a front-end for YouTube with a proxy built in. Means Google doesn't get any real data. Here's a link to the documentary on Piped.

What sucks is Marsha had nothing to do with any of this shit. His last years were spent living with a friend, who took him in after it became clear he was unable to care for himself. He did not pop up and say "hey, I am the trans woman responsible for gay rights." All of this was legend created years after his death, when he could not speak.

Some would say that "Marsha didn't have the vocabulary to realize" that he was actually a trans woman, but people knew about transsexuals in the 1960s-1990s. I believe Marsha was quoted as saying something about how he was not a trans women ("some people take hormones so the muscles fall out of their arms" or something to that effect).

As for the "lack of vocabulary" argument, I find that to be at odds with another idea that is currently being promoted, which says that young, pre-verbal toddlers are able to determine their true gender identity.

FUCKING THANK YOU

FUCKING YES. Also American, also think we need to shut up about Stonewall. Sooo much happened before that and outside of the U.S.

It's going to be pushed like the "gender (sex) pay gap" thing in 2010.

It's not even marked private now - it says the account doesn't exist. 😃 A lot of people apparently reported xim and got xir's ill-informed ass kicked off the platform (for now). I wish I could've seen the shitstorm.

The usual Stonewall myths aside, I find it interesting -- and disturbing -- how quickly and easily people like this, under the banner of a supposed moral superiority, openly wish death on those who disagree with them. And they apparently see nothing wrong with that.

Under the banner of tolerance and acceptance no less. How readily they become that which they despise

Yeah. When it comes down to it, I don't want the TQs to die and suffer. I want them to just stop. Stop telling people that they need to have sex with you.

I've even met people under that banner who I find to be personally likeable and engaging. But at the end of the day, I just do not believe that the world works the way they say it does, and am not going to change my vocabulary and self-conception to fit it.
