Finally . . .

The case had first been set for trial in 2019, but was repeatedly delayed in order to accommodate an investigation into Rivers’ mental health.

I'm sure it took a while to dig to the bottom of that.

And I'll bet that this is a story we won't be hearing about on NPR, despite a white transwoman having brutally murdered an entire black family, because we know who's at the top of the NPR oppression hierarchy.

I mean NPR is basically religious radio. It's like expecting EWTN to report on a church scandal.

So let me ask this, what rights do prisoners have and why do SOME (DELUSIONAL MEN) get to have the right to be placed with women?? Where is the woman's right to be placed away from mentally retarded rapists? Anyone? Anyone?

Let's hope he won't be transferred to a women's prison.

I hate the whole "plead insanity" nonsense. It's part of using the justice system to enact revenge rather than a way to protect society. Either the person is a danger or he isn't. Being insane or not doesn't change the fact that you could murder someone at the drop of a pronoun.

"Insanity" isn't a mitigating circumstance on how dangerous the person is. It's only mitigating if you accept a concept where the person deserves a revenge sentence or not.

It also runs up against the problem that the insane do not view themselves as insane, so the sane will plead insanity and the insane will plead not guilty.

i do agree with that but some people do know, especially once they are on medication. People go off medication then refuse to go back on because in their mind they are in some alternate version of reality so they are STILL dangerous even if they do know because they can go off medication or any other situation could happen.

That’s true, good point.

Sad that I'm so excited about this... but fantastic! He didn't get away with it!

This is an extremely long gap between the arrest and the trial. That's usually an indication of corruption of some kind, I think it's a much bigger deal than it looks that he has actually been convicted.

This reminds me of the Murder of Marrisa Shen. By now, the trial date has been postponed 4 times, and I'd not be surprised if it is again. Inconveniently, the main suspect(who the police collared through DNA dragnet) was a Syrian refugee at a time when Justin Trudeau was being heavily criticized for the then policies of the Canadian refugee program.

Yep. If they're dragging their feet it's because there's political pressure on them not to prosecute.

I've heard about the Michfest connection before, but this article is the first I've heard of the biker gang angle. The scant coverage this story has gotten really speaks to 1) Big Alphabet's institutional capture of the media industry, and 2) what a recent development that has been. Can you imagine what would have happened if this story broke about a decade or so ago, to say nothing of the 00's or 90's? Tacky as it sounds to say it, this case has all the ingredients of an especially lurid 20/20 story from that era: transgender teachers "gone bad," bloody murder, sexual jealousy, secretive lesbian gatherings, and motorcycle gangs. All that red meat, and the media is curiously, conspicuously afraid to get close!
