I saw a similar version of this question but related to gender identity and it went similar. Cis -> many different versions of nonbinary switched ever since. My pipeline? Straight -> asexual, and only because I misunderstood straightness as being not gay (not being attracted to the same sex) not as being attracted to opposite sex... after understanding this I don't swap labels like new socks every day.

For a while I mostly thought of straightness as cross-sex attraction, whether or not there was any same-sex attraction; And gayness as an absence of the former.
