I just happened to catch a promo for a local Pride. I wasn't looking at the TV screen, but when the director of the local LGBT Center started speaking, I knew instantly that it was a trans man. The helium voice. Then when I looked at the screen, it was all trans flags behind her. Oh, and they were bragging that they will have a "sensory overload space."

Funny, I remember marching in a real Gay Pride march in 1990 where we were followed the entire length by counter-protesters with bullhorns. We didn't have any safe spaces. Guess we had thicker skins.

Are there still any LGB directors of any LGBT orgs, or are they all being headed by TQ+ at this point?

Yeah, those voices. Once you catch on to it, they're unmistakable. Like you said, there's a note of helium to them - they remind me of slightly lower-pitched elves. They lack the depth (or fullness?) of a man's voice. I spot them easily now.

There was some vid I watched which was something unrelated to LGBTQ+ stuff whatsover. I couldn’t even see the face but lmao the voice of that "transman". It was so distinctively transman voice that I had to check the channel to see any mention of her being trans. Of course she was and she was a "gay trans boy". Oh god why you girls cannot be just straight. You don't even pass. You sound like a painful caricature of a man made by a teen girl.

There's a bass note in even relatively high men's voices that no woman has, including those with deep, husky contraltos a la actresses Lauren Bacall and Kathleen "Jessica Rabbit" Turner. I mean, I've always had a relatively low voice myself, even as a kid, and nobody ever mistook me for a male. Because that particular tone isn't there.

I really notice this, because for some reason I'm highly sensitive to it-- it's one of the things that I find attractive about men. The voice overall doesn't need to be deep, necessarily (although I could listen to the late Alan Rickman all day!); just gotta have that distinctively-male element. Though leave it to "transwomen" to mess up a good thing and make it sound creepy! Trying to hide that with a strained higher pitch and cartoonish "breathiness" is a crime against women (not to mention anyone with functioning ears).

this is what annoys e so much, these glass people needing to be handled so fragile. And straight people fall for it.
