There is no privilege to being gay. I think the popularity of hating on "white gays" is due to the fact that some straight people really never stopped being uncomfortable with us since gay marriage became legalized.

I think the popularity of hating on "white gays" is due to the fact that some straight people really never stopped being uncomfortable with us since gay marriage became legalized.

It's the good old progressive stack: if you can assign privilege to someone then they become fair game to attack.

This is specially true for "yesterday minority groups" like women and gay men.

Let's just ignore the fact that most trans people are middle class and white, shall we?!

You mean the fact that white heterosexual people are, on average, less homophobic than heterosexual people of other races? Sure, there are plenty of straight people who are black, Asian or Middle Eastern who support gay rights and would be perfectly fine if one of their children or grandchildren were gay. But let’s be honest with ourselves: homophobia is worse in some ethnic and racial groups than in others. White privilege is not the reason why my dad, mam, brother and sister are supportive of me being gay.
