What grade(s) do you teach?

I'm student-teaching to High Schoolers on English prep class (they spend the entire year learning English). They're lovely and I don't know why but I'm feeling much more like a teacher after 2 semesters of practicum courses. I'm feeling sad that I only have 5 more weeks with them.

Sadly gays are barred from being teachers (at least not without going back to the closet) in my country, so I don't think I'll be a teacher in the future. I like the job, but not enough to gamble my entire future into it. It wasn't like this before, but things are going worse and worse by day. When I was five, there were gay marriage on the TV, mind you that was a time only Holland and Belgium had marriage equality. Now you can murder gay people and get away with it. Its sad to see that your country gets more progressive the more you go back.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

OMG that’s horrifying!! I’m so incredibly sad that you can’t be a teacher in your country. I do hope you can be a teacher somewhere, someday. Good teachers are SO hard to find, especially these days.

I remember how it was when I was growing up in the 1980s, when it was kind of like how it is in your country - openly gay teachers didn’t really exist in my area. However, I remember my (quite obviously) gay teachers with great love and gratitude - they were by far some of the BEST teachers I ever had!
