"Going full Nazi" = using common sense and being grounded in reality, so sure, we've gone full Nazi.

I am also politically homeless. In the past I've leaned left with mostly moderate views, but the left has, as we all know, lost its damn mind. I cannot in good conscience vote Democrat unless something dramatically changes. I find their recent shift in policies to be rather destructive to society as a whole with little to no room for moderate voices.

My issues with the right lie mainly in their large disregard for environmental concerns and their stance on abortion. However, at this point in time, voting Republican has somehow become the lesser of two evils. Transing children is a straight up horror show, I don't want predatory men freely allowed in women's and children's spaces, men should NOT compete in women's sports, and the intentional racial divisiveness shouldn't be propped up by major corporations - burning down cities should not be celebrated as a civil rights win. Maybe police shouldn't be given military grade equipment, but defunding the police is just downright stupid. Additionally, mass-immigration is a recipe for disaster, and lets stop all of these crazy wars while we're at it. Free speech is a bedrock for our society and I am increasingly disturbed at the voices on the left calling for censorship of all views except their own, because what could possibly go wrong with that?

I really don't know what the answer is here. I feel like we are screwed either way and are going to feel the backlash far more than the TRAs, who will just opt out of womanhood whenever it becomes inconvenient and take their fetishes back to their bedrooms to abuse their partners with.

Good to know I'm not alone! It often feels like I'm alone.

That's why I keep coming back here. :)

I'm sympathetic to your environmental concerns and understand your stance on abortion (though I don't agree with it, understanding that the issue is very complex and provokes strong emotions on both sides). Here's the thing about the environment: my opinion about the policy level in response to environmental concerns has been vastly informed by the fact that 95% of the very same people who voice the loudest concerns about environmental waste looked the other way as government mandates all over the world forced people to fill landfills with millions if not billions of disposable plastic masks. There are other similar disconnects between what people say they believe about the environment vs. what they are willing to do when something conflicts with a cherished belief, but this one speaks the loudest. Environmental problems are not easy to solve: I came to understand how deeply our environmental problems are linked to our very way of life during my first career, which was in the environmental consulting field.

'Nazi' has lost all meaning as a word, which is a shame. Same with TERF, bigot, white supremacist, ect. The left's incessant need to victimize themselves by dredging everyone up into the proper boogeymen to elicit their reactions has eroded any meaning or impact these words once had. At this point, when someone assigns me one of those tags, I assume it means I don't need to waste any effort or time trying to converse with them.

I find it pretty ironic and funny in a dark way that we're being called "Nazis" for defending our boundaries as same-sex attracted people. Like they do know how the actual Nazis felt about homosexuality, right?

If we had gone full nazi then we would be the ones calling for the evil cis gays and lesbians to be murdered/raped, but we're not the ones doing that.

Ah, the French election was last Sunday, and I have kept thinking about this. The two political parties that used to be the expected ones to make it are now gathering at max... 4.8% of votes. Lol. And that was the right, the "republicans". The left, the "socialists", got 1%. What is popular now are : Macron's "no labels" politics, the far right, the far left, in order. In short: politics that are ever-changing depending on where the wind is blowing. Literal family of ex-nazi sympathiser. And anti-capitalism idealism which is tempting no doubt, but in reality fails at acknowledging our resources and capabilities (reality), so of course, yes, ultra woke, too.

I did vote far left five years ago, because I honestly think that would have been the right time for a change of the system, and cancel-culture etc hadn't made it to France yet. Now, though. I don't think anyone other than Macron can handle the huge crisis we've got coming, so I'm glad it's him again, even if he's... Macron. Lol. Seeing how the last five years went, he has experience handling crises, and we're going to need this more than someone who wants to change everything.

I don't tell many people my vote went to him lmao. Shameful 😒. I despair when I see the choices we had. I am not the one voting for extremists here... Only pragmatically.

So yes, "polical moderate" fits me, and it blows my mind to see people calling the extremists the "right" and the "left" now. No, that's the FAR right and the FAR left. Moderate right and left have left the game. Only Macron remains, reigning supreme. Which was his goal five years ago lol. Good job Manu. I gotta say his speech was pretty good though. And then some guys in the crowd shouted "get naked Macron" and "break my ass Manu" and I am still laughing. Yes, yes, everyone is saying he will fuck us over once again. (Retirement will now be at 65 years old 💀)

Well, that's life, no regrets though.

As someone who is not American, but who often uses online spaces that are dominated by Americans with American partisan views (Reddit etc), I find it hard to navigate the extreme partisanship on these sites that just doesn't makes sense to me.

My views have never even remotely come close to aligning with US Republican or US Democrat talking points. But that's probably because I have more leftwing populist views and am lucky there in media in my country that have similar views on important topics.

But I'm very concerned that political parties in my country which are aimed at young people are increasingly using imported extremist US talking points (NZ Green Party and ACT Party).
