For a long time it bothered me that left wing parties were so insistent on having all these immigrants from countries with cultures that were horribly homophobic and misogynistic, but now I realize left wing parties just never actually cared about LGB or women.

I think we should accept women, children and LGB refugees but no more adult hetero men. They bring the same misogyny and homophobia that the women and LGB people are fleeing.

Yeah, I agree. Take in the people who are actually escaping the awful culture, not the people causing it. The immigrants being largely young men was a big problem.

They also tend to be rural, not urban (or educated) people... that makes a BIG difference. Doubt you'd see the same behavior from men accustomed to living in a cosmopolitan environment, as opposed to a village.

The man who has been charged with these murders moved to Ireland when he was 6 years old. I am honestly genuinely uncomfortable with the idea of denying anyone access to the types of freedoms, safety and luxury we enjoy in the west. However, it really does have to be much more carefully done when you are taking in an influx of people who come from cultures with such utterly different values.

It's actually really been pissing me off when a lot of my most liberal friends/acquaintances are now pontificating that it's somehow wrong that we are so open to Ukrainian refugees and were less open to African/Middle Eastern refugees. Ignoring the fact that a)Europeans taking in Europeans makes geographical sense. And even more importantly b) that while there is a definite cultural divide between eastern and western Europe, we are still reasonably alike enough that a sudden influx is much easier to assimilate.

100%. It’s crazy that people also can’t understand that this is an entirely European conflict and it makes economic, geographic, and political sense that other Europeans would help. I fail to see exactly how it’s Europeans’ responsibly to take in the majority of refugees from conflicts in other continents.

I’ve also been baffled at the people who say stuff like “this proves white supremacy because people don’t care about conflict in Somalia/Yemen/Sudan/etc.” There’s a big difference between countries with internal conflicts and a nuclear power invading a neighbor completely unprovoked.

I've been opposed to western countries allowing a mass influx from the Islamic world for a LONG time now. Not that we should ban all Muslim immigration across the board... but individuals have to be carefully vetted, and, where those from certain countries are concerned, EXTREME caution is necessary. The spread of the ultra-fundamentalist, ultra-militant Wahhabi sect makes it so. It gave us Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIS, and jihadi terrorism in general; it's inherently, violently hostile towards same-sex attraction, women, Jewish people, and all non-Wahhabis (other Muslims very much included). And it's on the ascendancy. Has spread all over the Sunni Muslim world. So even though this makes Saudi Arabia (where it originated, and is the state religion) particularly radioactive, you can now find Wahhabis everywhere. Even in places like France, the UK, and the US. So let's not go adding any more of 'em, pleaseandthankyou!

This is why I wouldn't support left anymore. The immigration issue is the most critical, as the politics of allowing countless people from very homophobic culture with higher birth rate than the native population, it is basically a genocide of western culture and values. Extremely dangerous. The right politics is the only one protecting the country culture. The left just supports super fascist culture indirectly by supporting easy immigration.

The excuse for allowing those vagrants in,is that they will help replenish the aging European population. And naive me makes this simple thought: Instead of spending all that money to support illegal immigrants (who for the most part will not integrate and will not respect our values of democracy,free speech and secularism),why not use those billions to support the struggling European families?? I know many young couples who want to have children,or more children than one,but can not afford it.Or couples with fertility problems who have to spent tenths of thousands of euros out of pocket in fertility treatments.
