I hate HAES so much, it's no surprise that the creator is a fucking nonbinary nutjob named Lindo (her name was Linda).

However, I do believe in "fatphobia", sort of, even if that word is stupid. Bad doctors sometimes like to medically neglect obese patients and attribute everything wrong with them to their weight. I know obesity can cause all kinds of problems but it's the medically responsible thing to at least check that there's nothing else wrong, especially if the symptoms the patient is describing are abnormal or severe. Otherwise you end up having patients with autoimmune diseases that continue to suffer, get even more overweight, and end up hospitalized with a much later stage illness than it could have been.

I also think it's shitty to inherently attribute obesity to laziness, don't get me wrong, there are certainly lazy fat people out there but from personal experience and observation fatness tends to be symptomatic of something bigger (no pun intended) and a lot of obese people would benefit from therapy.

Totally agree with this, extreme obesity is almost always a symptom of emotional unwellness. I sometimes watch "My 600 lb Life" (don't judge me!), and I would say 99% of the people profiled were sexually assaulted as children or young adults.

Yeah, it's like the body version of hoarding. It usually takes something awful happening for a person to get that bad.
