eyeroll "Some people are bi" doesn't mean everyone's bi. Also, I sincerely doubt most of these "hearts not parts" people will really put their money where their mouth is when it comes down to it.

Some people fall in love with people rather than characatures of stereotypes.

You know, stuff like this makes me wonder if maybe same-sex attraction wasn't meant to be compatible with humans, maybe it was just impossible all along and people, no matter what, were going to find a way to be homophobic anyway.

"Same-sex attraction is degeneracy, it's a sin" Homophobia.

And now we are full-circle to "same-sex attraction is degeneracy, you are supposed to be heterosexual" again homophobia.

Same with getting rid of gender roles, stereotypes...etc the same thing liberals and leftists are now trying to bring back. Maybe we just aren't meant to be.

I'm sorry, but this statement makes no sense. Same-sex attraction is literally built in to humanity. It's highly, though not entirely, genetic. If every LGB person alive today suddenly died, there would still be gay and bisexual kids born tomorrow. And there would still be gay sheep (lol).

Maybe we just aren't meant to be.

Some idiot "queer cis gay boy" spicy straight making a homophobic comment on Twitter does not constitute proof that the entire phenomenon of same-sex attraction isn't "meant to be."

You doing okay, dude? This stuff can get depressing.

That's because of epigenetics. Men and women effectively have the same DNA aside from that single Y anomaly. Men even have a single X so we still retain whatever traits are programmed from that DNA. Epigenetics just referrs to genes that can be turned on or off. Men likely retain all of the genes which make a person male-attracted but they should be switched off.

You can't down regulate that effect too strongly or you would end up making women unattracted to men as well and the species would just die off.

This is so cool! Thanks for the bio lesson.

Another example of a gene that you might like is that since chromosomes come in pairs you can get a 5050 effect from each pair and coincidentally the likeliest "gay gene" for gay men specifically is found on the X chromosome. The same gene is claimed to make women "more fertile" which seems like a polite way to say they want more sex from men. The gene isn't eliminated by natural selection because it creates a quantity vs quality effect for children. Only one of the mother's X chromosomes passes down to sons so they only have a 50% chance to get that male attracted gene which also needs to compete with the rest of your unknown attraction genes. The downside is counteracted by many more daughters being born and many more sons that only might be same sex attracted.

I really appreciate the link to that other comment. Do you by any chance remember who posted it? I see that they have since deleted their account.

Edit: Bless everyone who archives. It was u/GatitoMalo.

Yup, was gonna say it was him! I miss him... didn't get an opportunity to say goodbye before he left :(

He has a lot of other knowledge-dense comments that I've saved over the months, if you're interested I can link some. Was even considering making an informal "LGB resources" sub or something to post content like this in.

He was one of my favorite contributors as well. I'd love to see your curated list, whether here or in a separate sub.

[–]reluctant_commenter 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Yeah? All right, when not if I make it, I'll ping you :) it's been on my list for a while.

If you are really interested in reading, I had some massively long debates with him... great stuff. Well, his comments were anyway, lol. Here's a comment of his on a dumpster fire of an argument over paraphilias I had with a user who doesn't come here so often anymore. I am still honestly on the fence as to whether I'd call AGP/GAMP a subset of bisexuality or something entirely separate from bisexuality.

Here's a comment he wrote about this on FBOE, the fraternal birth order effect found among gay men-- Q-Continuum-Kin referenced this in this comment.

Thank you! I might have to save these for the weekend but I skimmed and they look very tasty.

No problemo :) I appreciate your voracity for reading, it's always fun when I find other people on this sub who are as interested in stuff like this as I am.

I was talking on the social level, obviously, not a biological level? That's like saying "pedophiles can't be incompatible with humans because they are biologically attracted to minors" which is hella false. Social /= biological. This is why racism, homophobia...etc exists.

And I wasn't talking about this 1 Twitter account, I was talking about the whole "homosexuality is about gender, not sex" ideology...

[–]reluctant_commenter 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I mean, literally speaking, pedophilia isn't incompatible with being human... it is possible for pedophiles to be human. Pedophilia, unlike same-sex attraction, is extremely harmful to a vulnerable population (children).

And I wasn't talking about this 1 Twitter account, I was talking about the whole "homosexuality is about gender, not sex" ideology...

Gotcha.

I mean with society, again, I was talking on a social-level.

A lack of repeated exposure makes it difficult for straight society to empathize with us. Most people don't seek us out to engage with us or our issues.

But everyone has a gay cousin. Same-sex attracted people being less afraid to share their lives and experiences with their families does have a positive impact.

wasn't meant to be

Nothing is meant to be. We are able to influence how society views us.

[–][deleted] 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

If you hide and don't talk about it you're good. It's just the same shit it always was, now we just have assholes wearing our skin proudly while we have have no space of our own anymore to find each others peacefully.

Nice prank from humanity tho, I really though it was changing and that the mentalities were getting better. It truly wasn't and people never fail to disappoint. I feel sorry for the people that fought for gay rights only to be rewarded like that few years after.

It's impossible to get away from the Buffalo Bill thing when it comes to the TQ+, isn't it.

wasn't meant to be

Meant by whom, though? SSA people(and fauna) exist in numbers that can't just be brushed off as some anomaly. I would go as far to say it was "intended".

maybe it was just impossible all along

SSA acceptance is not impossible or incompatible. I think a fair amount of people are actually accepting, but most who don't want to exploit tend not to be very visible or the permanently activistic type. They would have a very live and let live attitude. Unfortunately that usually means they don't have a lot of power and influence when it's most needed. I think they will step up when they actually become aware of a problem though. At least, I hope so..

And now we are full-circle to "same-sex attraction is degeneracy, you are supposed to be heterosexual" again homophobia.

This just showcases the risks of mindlessly supporting anyone(no matter how nutty) on a political side just because one is "supposed to", because they are on that side in general, without thinking about the ramifications of their support. But people are lazy; Many just want a 'Just Add Support!' dish of Instant Progressivism.

I think it's more a matter of genderologists being opposed to sexual orientation itself. They don't like boundaries (thanks, Queer Theory!), especially sexual ones-- cuz those mean that you're uptight and prudish, dontchaknow-- and can't stand homosexuality/bisexuality/heterosexuality being based on biological sex. It's just that they targeted homosexuality first. Probably because gay people are a lot more vulnerable than straight people, and, crucially, also happen to be the ones that most genderologists want to fuck :(

Yeah, I know that it can be depressing sometimes. Well, a LOT of the time. But (imo) what we're dealing with isn't "homophobia will find a way". Ironically, it looks to me like many are supporting this crap because they think trans = gay! And they're being good allies to us! Even as they're laying waste to everything we've built for ourselves! But this at least gives me hope that, once they realize that genderology is anathema to same-sex-attracted people, they'll turn against it.

So don't think that we're not meant to be, OK? Or that you aren't. This genderology fad proves nothing more than what the late Harlan Ellison observed: "the two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity" :)

I don't know what to say other than this supreme understatement: Genitals an important part of a person. I like these morons to date people with no genitals. They'll probably hurl.

As for the degeneracy comment, I do think the woke left is getting close with the religious right like the ends of a horseshoe.
