What the fuck do he thinks a coming out is ? An instant celebration with cheering and applauses ?? It's not something we threw a party for in a lot of family, quite the contrary, it can lead to an absolute disaster depending the context, the country and the family and friends. Can't they show a little bit of fucking respect ?

Yeah I initially found this post super bizarre since I don't think coming out is actually fun for anyone, but it all makes sense when you see it as the idealized LARP that's so typical of this crowd. They've fetishized the experience because they see it as an untapped source of narcissistic supply.

Actual best-case scenarios:
-the person you tell is totally unfazed and continues the conversation without a hitch
-it deepens the relationship and brings you closer together
-even if the initial reception is less-than-great, it ultimately facilitates more honesty and vulnerability

Coming out can be a good thing (and can also be a devastating thing, as you're right to point out) but I don't think it's ever a fun thing. It's something that many of us have to do over and over again throughout our lifetimes in order to have honest relationships with the people around us, not an enjoyable experience in its own right.
