I couldn't listen to the speeches "As a queer woman of color blah blah. Like I obviously get why those things matter but you got an award for your accomplishments not for being black or gay or whatever. It makes it sound so political (which it was).

Disclaimer: I am not familiar with her work I am not saying something was or wasn't deserved. I'm just saying the phrasing of the overall ceremony and constantly hearing "queer" "woman" "color" etc. Gave me an eye roll. It doesn't seem like it's "my race, sex and orientation don't matter, only my accomplishment and this equal opportunity" more like "I'm oppressed so give me an award to be woke".
