“Romantic divergence exists” - can someone explain this to me (I’m serious)?

From the context I guess it's another term for the 'split-attraction model:' you can be 'romantically' attracted to a sex without being 'sexually' attracted to it (e.g. wanting to date women romantically whilst having no sexual desire for them).

I believe it originated as a way of articulating the desires of 'asexuals' who still want to date, and bisexuals who only want relationships with one sex. But these people take it to the extreme and full-on believe that everyone literally has a 'romantic' orientation which is completely separate to their 'sexual' orientation and so you can get people who are e.g. sexually attracted only to men but who only want to have romantic relationships with women. Which sounds like a load of nonsense to me, honestly, but it's a part of these people's belief system.

Would it really have been so difficult for people to just say that they're straight but uninterested in sex or bi but only looking for long term stuff with women? I mean, I've been sexually attracted to and involved with some people who I'm not interested in a romantic relationship with, this isn't much different.

I like to think that the famous quote, "I think, therefore I am" is incomplete, with the original being "I think, therefore I am a criminal" Cogito ergo sum scelestus.
