I had no idea about Julie Bindel, that's ridiculous. Time to read more about her.

I get the idea of straight women wanting to be liberated as much as possible from male fantasies and ideals etc. while also meeting their very human needs for intimacy, but intimacy can't be satisfied through a lie. It's like another form of conversion therapy. I have a bisexual female friend who felt as though she needed to forgo men entirely in dating - not necessarily a comparable situation, because she is actually attracted to women - to free herself from playing into the patriarchy, but she felt guilty about her attraction to men and it quickly became unhealthy. I'm sure we're all aware of what that feeling is like.
