What's weird to me is all the ones saying they realised they were free to express themselves however they wanted, without that making them a man or woman, which is why they're now non binary. How do you realise it's all based on bullshit stereotypes, and not take that final step of "I'm just a man or woman who has some atypical interests". Unless that's what non binary is to you, at which point, why bother with the label?

I was thinking the same thing. It's mind boggling that they want to reduce themselves to little boxes so eagerly.

As someone who's been convinced that gender is the single greatest cause of human misery since I was a teen, this drives me nuts! My best guess is that such people take gender (that is, the male gender-role and female gender-role) as a given, so, if it doesn't "fit" them, then the only alternative is... some "third gender" category, in essence. Not simply taking this as proof that gender is bullshit, and scrapping the entire thing. It's maddening to me... but probably the inevitable result of making "gender" what amounts to a religion, complete with indoctrination of the young, excommunication of heretics, and crusades against "heathens". These people can only think in terms of "church doctrine"; to them, there IS nothing outside gender.

In a nutshell: to them, it's gender's world... we all just live in it.

the first comment made me think this, she didn't regret being trans, because it made her realized she could masculine and a women, yet if they had told ger that beforehand, she wouldn't have transitioned. Which is what the "No conversion therapy for trans" crowd is trying to stop

The TL;DR are exactly the points we and other groups keep trying to hammer home. I'm glad detrans people are actually being listened to, and the hugboxing TRAs are being shut out.

In no particular order or ranking:

  • sexual assault/trauma
  • mental health conditions
  • societal gender roles for men, women, and/or LGB
  • lack of life experience and self-awareness
  • affirmation without question (peer pressure, expectations, etc)

I honestly can’t believe Reddit’s rampaging TRA brigade have allowed that post to remain there. It exposes the mental illness and sexual abuse so brutally.

It's been locked last I checked, so its time is limited.

Am I the only one that finds "TW" very cringe? Like, I have been domestically abused before but I don't need a "TW" for abuse. I honestly question the sanity of people who need TWs for mere words.

A very long comment about the details of the abuse/assault, maaaaybe but just mere terms? I'm really in awe of how these people function in real life.

Can you post an archived link? It won’t let me open without a Reddit account.
