Just another day on askgaybros.

May I just have a little winge though for a second about this remark:

At this point we have nothing in common, as a gay man I don't care about access to female restrooms or female spaces

Gender and sexual orientation are different things with different goals. I have no problem with T since it's up to women to resolve that, is Q and all the craziness about pronouns, fluidity (one day female next week male) being something but nothing at the same time and all that crazy stuff that has become like a bad joke

Why is this up to women to resolve that? Even though women are a large group they are the underdog in this. They are being silenced, insulted, harassed, doxxed, fired, threatened, beaten and even killed for trying to keep the rights they have fought bitterly and hard for for so fucking long. Women have been victimised for millennia.

How can any of you sit here and claim it has nothing to do with you?

Do you not have mothers, sisters, nieces, daughters? Did you not come out of a womb? Have you forgotten that during the AIDS pandemic in the 80's and 90s women volunteered all over to take care for the dying men who the doctors did not want to touch with a ten foot pole? They stood in line to give blood. https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/the-lesbian-blood-sisters-who-helped-save-gay-mens-lives-235100

So every time i see comments like this honestly i'm just disgusted with disappointment.

Women deserve better than this.

Full agreement, as a man I genuinely don't see how this is women's problem to solve. In saying that, they're implicitly agreeing with gender ideology, by making out this is an issue between two groups of women, rather than between women and a group of GNC males (albeit gender nonconformity taken to the extreme).

This is a problem between men, if trans women say they feel unsafe using the men's toilets, because it's unsafe then it's on men to make those spaces more safe, rather than foisting the problem onto women. Personally, I wouldn't give a shit, if a trans woman came into the men's I'd treat them the same way I treat any other person, head down, get my business done and fuck off out of there, maybe a head nod or a two or three word exchange if I know the person. And I acknowledge there are men that are arseholes, they're likely to be arseholes towards any man and they need calling out. The solution to those men is not to create a loophole which could be potentially exploited by those same men and allow them to act like arseholes towards women in toilets too

I understand and agree with your sentiment; But I'm unsure about his intention for the words "up to women". Does he mean it's women's Choice/Decision/Say or Responsibility? I'm seeing definitions for both when I search for it online. His other post seems to indicate the former.

Yes, that comment was pretty self-serving and ignorant.

If you listen to certain radfems they will say its up to women to fix this, and they don't need men to do it.

He will see its everyones problem when theres gender confroming women in all his spaces claiming "we are really gay men tee-hee!"

That was a point of curiosity for me as well—has he not seen the FTM TRAs hassling AGB?

While I absolutely think it's kinda a dick thing to say, I do think there's a certain realism to, "If X has a problem with Y, then it's X's job to deal with Y." Like, if you're a cat-lover who's really upset about cats getting declawed, you're probably gonna have to campaign for that yourself. Regardless of whether dog-lovers should care about that issue, the fact is, most of them are probably aren't super interested or invested in this issue.

I do think men and women should care about each other's issues, just because we're all humans and we're all stuck on this planet together. But from logistical, planning standpoint... I mean, yeah, it kinda is up to women. Counting on men to help out with this seems overly optimistic to me.

It's more like being a cat lover who's angry that dog owners are encouraging their dogs to chase our cats. Not really something the cat owners can solve without the cooperation of the dog owners.

TRAs have failed on that sub. When they started on it in earnest sometime in 2020 around the time they had already taken over the other high validation forums and gotten r/LGBdtT banned it wasn't half as peaked as it is now. Some say it survived because of men being in general less accommodating to ideas they don't believe and people they don't like/want, or because of the official stance of bare minimum moderation. The latter which likely helped to preserve unsanctioned viewpoints on a site with management that likes to quietly replace mods with ones of their own choosing and ideological leanings. Because it's harder to get away with doing it unnoticed and uncontested when there are so few on a sub of this size.

But anyway, it survived long enough for most on there to become aware of what was happening with all the "Do I belong here?/Would you date a Transman?" posts and either choose to support the side of the TRAs or stand in stark opposition of it. But there was no more pretending and naivety after a certain point. And unfortunately for TRAs, the de facto end of pretense and naivety is the slow-release kryptonite of gender ideology. Because that means people will eventually debate them and their arguments are all s***.

Sorry but this is why I'm beyond caring if these demented heteros kill themselves. I've moved on to celebrating it in fact.

No apologies needed, you feel how you feel, and thank you for sharing.

Just a heads up for anyone running across this comment ... "celebration" is not allowed on this sub. It not only violates our rules, but also the TOS of SaidIt.

JJ gets it, so maybe take a page from his book and approach similarly. We accept users acknowledging their variety of personal truth, but that doesn't mean you can use us to promote it. Don't misinterpret LGB kindness for weakness.
