I totally relate to your title. I think my biggest issue with "letting" straight people have the q-slur, though, is that it still is used as a homophobic slur in some places-- sometimes even by the supposedly "progressive" people who want to use it. And that fact is usually denied, minimized, dismissed by many people who self-identify as "queer".

Also, that article is total bullshit, lol. As time goes on, more and more the word "queer" has nothing to do with being LGB. Drop the Q, please...

If we give TQ+ the word "queer", it will continue to be used as a homophobic slur, except all the awful things TQ+ do will be lumped in with us and used to justify our oppression by wider society. I guess that's happening rn too, but of we don't pushback at all, more people will continue to believe we, LGB, advocate for and are represented by all the nonsense pushed by "the kweers".
