That's exactly what I said when I saw that! Like...wtf is homonormativity and what gay utopia is this person living in where same-sex attraction is normalized and supported by society?! 🤡🌎

Heteronormativity is the idea that gay relationships should emulate straight ones. In a heteronormative relationship, while both members are the same sex, they still follow "straight" ideals such as monogamy and there will be one member that definitely takes the "male" role of breadwinner and pants of the house while the other takes the "female" role of homekeeper and more subservient to the "male."

Basically it's anyone and anywhere from abusive and overly controlling relationships to simply people who aren't super sexually explorative and divide the labor between the two of them by setting individual tasks to each rather than splitting each task evenly. It's a dumb and vague term

How is monogamy a "straight" ideal??

Because it is acceptable in the eyes of religious fundamentalists. Polyamory and open relationships are not, so those are the woke things to do

I don't think we should call everything that religious fundamentalists accept a "straight ideal".
