So it's straight. Maybe one or both of the people are bisexual, but there are only two possible combinations of relationship. Same-sex, a.k.a. gay or lesbian, or opposite-sex, a.k.a. straight. What's the problem?

The problem is that this plays into bisexual invisibility. Since people generally assume that bisexuality doesn't exist, bisexuals must not either. We're therefore seen as gay or straight. And this is typically determined by our current relationship. Same-sex? We're gay. Opposite-sex? We're straight. So apparently it's somehow possible to switch back and forth between mutually-exclusive sexual orientations! Yeah... no.

Our being misunderstood like this obviously isn't good for bisexuals, but it isn't good for homosexuals, either. If being in a same-sex relationship makes bisexual women "gay"... then there's wiggle-room for the claim that "lesbians can like dick!" And if we've learned anything, it's that if you give the TQ+ an inch... they'll take a goddamn mile (and then some).

No one here is saying bisexuals are straight or gay/lesbian. Simply that a relationship can only be either straight or gay/lesbian.
