I don't understand the hatred people have for being bisexual and the need to play at being gay or straight. It's ok to be bisexual, it's natural, normal and nothing to be ashamed of. Be honest about it so you can create an actual bi community of people who understand your attraction to both sexes and you can share your experiences with instead of trying to push your bisexuality onto monosexuals and our spaces.

While I'm certainly glad that you feel this way... most people don't. And since it's the default attitude, that includes most bisexuals.

We get the same message as everybody else, you know? Not just that bisexuality is a negative thing (confusion, immaturity, wishy-washiness, sluttiness, a phase, a fad, a lie, etc. etc.), but the reason why it's a negative thing; what all these disparaging/dismissive characterizations come down to-- the assumption that there is no such thing. That bisexuality doesn't even exist.

Which is how we end up with bisexual people who call themselves gay or straight. Because they really believe that they are. There's no third option, after all. And that way lies "lesbians who like dick/gay men who like pussy"... which isn't good for ANY of us :(

I hear you. I think homosexual people need to do a better job of including bisexuality in conversations about same-sex rights and issues. It is its own legitimate thing, and it has its own set of unique experiences. (This is part of why I am more supportive of LGB Alliance than I am of LGN.)

Yup exactly. It is in everyone's best interest to call out bisexual erasure when it happens! That does affect L/G people, whether we take the time to call it out or not.
