LGB ErasureApparently there is LGB without the T - it's acceptable when a homophobic assault distracts from a much greater evil

In my university town, a gay teenage boy was recently attacked in the street for his sexuality. A few weeks later, "trans women are men" was spray painted on several buildings around town. I'm of the opinion that making statements in such a way is trashy and reflects on us badly, but is nowhere near as serious as an actual physical assault. Despite this, the university has made no public comment on the attack, while the graffiti was officially condemned by senior figures in the university. When this was criticised by other students, we were told that it would be "innappropriate to detract from anti-trans hate crimes with other issues." The uni is also celebrating "trans fest" this week, so it would apparently be even more unfair to the gender specials. I'm fucking furious rn

I hate that homophobia is now acceptable and is overlooked. We are starting to see an increase in so many of these cases of violence and verbal harassment. 😡

I truly think that one of the reasons homophobia is more accepted now is because TRAs perpetuate a LOT of it themselves.

The other big reason is because people more or less equate transgenderism with homosexuality (which is another thing TRAs are also doing), so the anger they feel at extreme TRA nonsense is something they feel free to take out on LGB people.

It’s a vicious, horrifying thing that I never thought would rear its ugly head again. Yet, here we are.

The LGB don't matter anymore to the powers that be. That's why we have to go back to doing it ourselves with organizations like the LGB Alliance.

I noticed how suddenly being a transphobe is seen as much bigger deal than being a homophobe these days. The only time I see a big deal made of homophobia is when it's also related to some trans "gay" person (to me it's just a straight person with extra steps).

People think once gay marriage became legal in the US then homophobia ceased to exist?

I have a feeling these graffiti "trans attacks" are going to increase because of teen trolls who find the mainstream attention and publicity these acts now receive to be irresistible, similar to spray painting 666 or swastikas. LGB and GC people will probably be blamed for all of these "attacks" :/ Also, poor kid. I hope he's ok.

I have to agree the op. I'm pissed off for him and others. I read on flip board how crimes against the gender specials were up and a detailed look on how many of them had been killed this year and I won't hide it I smiled like a psychopathic sadist. I'm thinking to myself what about all the rights the lgb I, s, and men and women have lost so these sickos could have their rights above ours? Homophobia should Trump transphobia because 9x out of ten the transgender provoked the action. So the beatings against transgender will increase until we get rights back.
