I still don't understand why people are even bothering to pander to non-binary. I can understand doing it for trans, as misguided as it is, but non-binary is just so fucking ridiculous I can't understand how anyone doesn't see how stupid it is.

There are way more nonbinary people than trans people these days. It's the "escape" route for lesbians and bi women who stay in the LGBTQ++ spaces who don't want to be labeled TERFS, as well as an easy way for straight women who want to show that they aren't like other girls to suddenly be "queer." The latter group bulks up the numbers a lot.

Is this him on Twitter trying to educate Bev Jackson (a founding member of the UK Gay Liberation Front in 1970) about how "transwoman" Marsha P Johnson started pride? He cites wikipedia. The nerve of this man.

Yep that's him, mansplaining as always

Marsha P Johnson, the man who in interviews said he identifies as a gay men who likes to do drag? The same Marsha P Johnson who said he was late to the stonewall riots and said in an interview that it was wrapping up after he arrived? Its always “respect their pronouns” unless the person is dead and can’t set the record straight. I once saw someone try and claim that Alan Turing was trans because the hormones used in his conversation “therapy” that he was ordered to be on caused breast growth…

Maybe he could have...I dunno, written a whole new song for trans and NB, but that would require effort on his part. He does realise NB and trans aren't sexualities, right?

Oh goodness. How can one person be so dense? Where to begin?

I had changed the lyrics to my song “Sexuality”…I’ve been replacing “gay” with “they” and “some common ground” with “the right pronouns”…I’m not erasing the gay community.

Well, pal, I’m not really sure what else you’d call that other than erasure.

Those of us who formed our political beliefs in the 1970s and 1980s are instinctive supporters of women’s rights. Our moral compasses are confused.

At least he’s acknowledging that trans rights are incompatible with women’s rights.

84 per cent of white evangelical Christians believe that gender is determined by sex at birth.

If I told you that 84 percent of white evangelical Christians had a positive rH factor blood type, would you wring your hands and wail about the injustice? (For the record, I do not know the percentage of that demographic with this blood type feature.) Taking something that applies to most humans and attempting to paste it to only one group as a scare tactic is intellectually lazy at best and manipulative at worst.

It’s also hilarious that he tries to tie the LGB Alliance and gender critical feminists to white evangelical Christians. The only things we agree on are the immutability of sex and the danger of cancel culture.

Tangentially related: it’s interesting he tries to tar and feather white Christians for this viewpoint. I guarantee if you stepped into any black church in the US and asked that question, you’d get a very similar response rate. It goes to show that Bragg has zero interest in making a point, but only wants to whip people up with SJW emotional reasoning.

they are echoing the tropes used against the gay community in the 1970s and 1980s

Ok. Cool. At no point did the gay community ever advocate for policies that allowed any male predator to have free access to women’s spaces if he said the magic words, “I identify as a woman.” The gay community never advocated for medically experimenting on children. The gay community never threatened to rape and bomb people who disagreed with us. It’s nowhere near the same situation and Bragg knows it.

transgender woman are four times more likely to be murdered than cisgendered women

The article he cites says 45 trans and non-binary people were murdered. Here some official FBI stats. Okay, so the population of the US is officially counted as 331,000,000 residents now. Let’s assume 1% for the trans population. 1% of 331m is 3.31m. 45 people out of that gives you .0000136. Let’s assumed 49.5% for women to account for the trans people. That percentage out of 331m is 163,845,000. The homicide stat for women is 3,573. That goes for .00002181.

So, considering that most murdered transwomen work in the notoriously dangerous field of prostitution, women are still murdered at higher rates. Cool.

which is more important: biology or human rights

Oddly enough, the group denying biology is the group demanding women and LGB people relinquish our rights. But, if you really have to demand people deny observable and scientifically-testable fact for your sake, you just might be in the wrong.

What a strangely formulated sentence. I have a feeling most evangelical Christians just observe people based on sex and don't believe gender identity has an impact on that (which they have in common with most people on this site), or they are unaware of the concept of gender identity entirely.

Unless they mean "gender" as a synonym of biological sex, which how it used to be used for a long time. Which doesn't make sense either since I doubt evangelical Christians believe that sex can actually be changed by transitioning. Unless they do, please help this poor Swede make sense of this.

People like this are just existing on a very surface level of understanding issues. They think that this is an issue of "being nice". You can see this in the way any disagreement gets called "hateful". The unemotional objective analysis of gender self ID gets called emotional while they insist their purely emotional arguments are "science".

Their argument is like insisting that a virus is a fine part of a healthy body because the virus feels like it should be part of your cells and have free access to your replication proteins. They only look at the individual virus and complain "how can you make this poor virus feel sad?" While completely ignoring the fact that it will kill the cell and possibly the entire body if not stopped.
